In the second wave of its charity videogame art auction, PopCap gives collectors and PopCap fans the opportunity to secure a piece of one-of-a-kind art – whilebenefitting both UK charity, SpecialEffect and Starlight Children’s Foundation in the US. The nine items under the online hammer this week include a one-of-a-kind creation by Irish artist, Mick Minogue. The stunning diorama entitled "Final Wave" is based on PopCap’s runaway hit, Plants vs. Zombies – the fastest-ever selling iPhone/iPod strategy game.
The “Final Wave” diorama brings BAFTA-nominated Plants vs. Zombies to life - each character detail is hand-drawn, coloured and layered on card to create depth and draw the viewer in. The whole scene is encased in a DIY fortified box that represents the iPhone or laptop screen. Playing with perspectives and movement, the piece portrays the chaos of the final level of the videogame in art form. This piece is on display for a limited time at Filmbase in Temple bar in Dublin.
Other videogame art items currently up for grabs include:
· Lex Bookworm original sketch on paper. Starting bids for these items range from $1 (dollar) to $350 (dollar)
· Plants vs. Zombies ceramic bowl and mug set
· Plants vs. Zombies Organ Grinder Zombie concept sketch on wood
· Plants vs. Zombies Peashooter costume
· Plants vs. Zombies XBLA player house concept sketch on canvas
· Zuma Tiki Gods original concept sketch on paper
PopCap is donating 100 percent of all proceeds from the auctions to the Starlight Children’s Foundation in the United States and SpecialEffect in the United Kingdom, two nonprofits dedicated to helping seriously ill and disabled children and young people.
